Agreeing to these terms

These terms cover your use of this website and the services Cornerstone Chico Concrete and Masonry offers. In these terms, "we," "us" and "our" mean Cornerstone Chico Concrete and Masonry, and "you" means the person using the site or hiring us.

By using this site, asking for a quote or booking work with us, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. When you sign a written estimate or contract with us for a specific job, that document controls if it says something different from these terms.

What we do

We're a masonry contractor in Chico, CA, and we do concrete and masonry work for homes in Chico and the cities around it. That includes foundation, brick, block, stone, chimney, fireplace, paver and walkway work. You can read more about who we are on our About page, and you'll find the full list of services on our home page.

The descriptions on this site are general. They explain how this kind of work usually goes, not a promise about your job. What we'll actually do for you is whatever your written estimate or contract lists.

Estimates and pricing

We give free quotes on site, and you're under no pressure to book. We have to see the job in person to price it, because size, access, the materials you choose and the condition of what's already there all change the cost.

An estimate is our best price for the work it describes, based on what we can see at the time. Some problems only show once a wall is open or old material comes out, like damaged footings, rotted framing behind veneer or bad soil under a slab. If we find something like that, we'll stop, show you and explain it, and we won't do extra work at extra cost until you've approved it.

An estimate is good for the time written on it. After that, material prices may have changed, so we may need to update the quote before we start.

Scheduling and cancellation

We'll give you a start date and our best idea of how long the job will take once you approve the work. Those dates are estimates. Weather, cure times, material deliveries, permit and inspection schedules and hidden conditions can push them back, and we're not responsible for delays we can't control.

If you need to reschedule or cancel, please tell us as soon as you can by phone at (530) 399-1517 or through our contact page. If we've already ordered special materials or started work, you may owe for those costs, as your contract spells out. Any right to cancel that California law gives you still applies.

Payment terms

Payment amounts, due dates and accepted payment methods are set out in your estimate or contract. On larger jobs that usually means payments tied to stages of the work, not one payment at the start.

Please pay each amount by the date it's due. If a payment is late, we may pause the work until it's settled, and we may use any remedies the law allows to collect what's owed.

Warranties and what we don't promise

Our work is backed by our satisfaction guarantee, and any written warranty for your job is the one in your contract. Materials such as pavers, stone, brick, mortar and sealers may carry their own maker's warranty, which is between you and the maker.

Apart from what's written in your contract, our services and this website are provided as they are, without other promises. Masonry and concrete move with the ground and the weather, so small hairline cracks, color differences between batches and natural variation in stone are normal and aren't defects. Our warranty also doesn't cover damage from misuse, ground settling we didn't cause, work done by others after we leave, or skipping the care steps we give you.

The information on this site is general and isn't professional advice for your house. Please talk with us before deciding on a repair.

Limits on our liability

We're fully licensed and insured, and we stand behind the work we do. To the extent the law allows, our total responsibility for any claim about a job is limited to the amount you paid us for that job.

We aren't responsible for indirect losses, such as lost use of your property, lost income or costs you take on because a job ran late, unless the law says we must be. We're also not responsible for how you use information from this website. Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility that California law doesn't allow a business to limit.

Settling a disagreement

If something isn't right, call us first. Most problems get fixed fastest when we can come back out, look at it with you and agree on what to do.

If we can't work it out between us, either of us can suggest mediation, where a neutral person helps us reach an agreement, before anyone goes to court. Either of us may still use small claims court for a claim that qualifies.

Which law applies

These terms and any work we do for you are governed by the laws of the State of California. Any court case about them will be heard in the state or federal courts that serve Butte County, California, unless the law requires somewhere else.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time, and the version posted on this page is the current one. Changes apply from the day we post them. They don't change a contract you've already signed with us.

If you have a question about these terms, reach us through our contact page or call (530) 399-1517.
